The story of Black Gold began in 1920, deep in the untouched valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan. For generations our family of traditional healers, Hakims, worked with Salajeet, also known as Shilajit, alongside wild herbs. Shilajit was long known in traditional practice, but it had never been made available to ordinary families in its pure form. Our ancestors were the first to curate and share this natural resin with the people of Gilgit, where it became part of daily life.
By 1950, we began producing Shilajit in larger quantities while remaining faithful to our natural process. Purification was done under sunlight, avoiding fire or overheating, to preserve its vital elements and fulvic acid. This traditional method became our signature, setting Black Gold apart as a source of 100% pure Himalayan Shilajit.
In the late 1950s, our journey expanded beyond borders. We began shipping Shilajit into China under white label agreements, followed by Iran and India. By the 1990s, Black Gold Salajeet was being supplied across Pakistan and different parts of the world, recognized for its authenticity and potency.
With time, the market became crowded with counterfeits and low-quality products. Many brands used artificial heat, fillers, and fast-production methods that destroyed the natural essence of Shilajit. We knew this was not the true mountain resin our ancestors had entrusted us with. This realization led us to reclaim our legacy and step forward with our own name: Black Gold.
Today, Black Gold Salajeet stands as the first brand from Gilgit to bring authentic Shilajit directly from the Himalayas to the world. While we continue to supply premium white-label Salajeet, our mission is to give this natural treasure the respect it deserves.
